Shoot report SUNDAY 20th MAY:

Wrexham Bowmen presents an extravanganza to rival Lloyd Webber's greatest productions.

We proudly announce

"Western - the Musical"

starring such extraordinary talents as

Riffie "the Voice" Vallance - solo lead playing an exuberant but confused character who comes to the field of dreams to seek gold!  Deluded by the bright lights he bursts into (the same bl***y) song at every opportunity until tragically strangled with his own (shiny new) bowstring!

The Chorus (starring Mike the Melody, Steve Soprano and Weetabix Macmaster) who counterpoint the incessant repetition of "Gold!" by matching more suitable songs for the arrows - "Red Red Whine”, and for the longbows, the melancholy "Green Green Grass of Home"!

The Baddies - an unco-operative crowd of f***allers - with no musical talent whatsoever, who threatened to bring the production to a halt until they were defeated by "The Voice" - at 110 yards it was so flat they fled the field of battle never to return.

Ok (musical lack of talent apart) - this was a really good days shooting, with superb ends being shot all over the field and especially on the far right of the line where a junior western was shot. Archers at this end were absolutely porcupining the red/gold resulting in some outstanding scores being recorded in the novice department.

Footnote:

You’ll have gathered that Riff sang the chorus from “Gold” quite a lot - good shooting, fellah!
